Lessons in humility, taught by a 4 year old:
Letting out a great sigh as I elevated my swollen pregnant feet after work I said, "just look at those feet." Evelyn piped up, "They're fat! You're a fat woman Momma!"
4 year old star gazer:
Looking up at the sky one late night, Evelyn saw 2 stars (we were at a lighted softball park and couldn't see much of the stars). She pointed the 2 stars out and said, "Daddy just look at the beautiful constellations!"
4 year old negotiator:
Evelyn has been going to the preschool class Grandma Claire has been teaching this summer while Head Start is on Summer break. When two of the boys in class were having an argument, Evelyn stepped in yelling, "Hey Guys! You have to compromise!"

The Power of Curiosity

Life as a pregnant Speech Therapist:
How do I say this? I was flashed... Not exactly but here's what happened in a speech group last week.
I have a speech group of little, adorable boys who are 3 years old, who don't have a whole lot to say but have a whole lot of moving to do. They had just arrived and one of the little boys had his sights on me, but I didn't know it.
Without saying a word, he snuck up behind me, ran around to my front and lifted up my shirt! He had had enough, and needed to know; WHAT DO YOU HAVE UNDER THERE? He couldn't take it any longer, and had to take it upon himself to find out. When all he saw was belly he looked up at me with a baffled expression, but never said one word about it.....I guess I should work on that part.

8 Weeks To Go and So Much To Do
We nested this weekend and I had helpers. Thank goodness for 3 day weekends, Aunties, and Grandma's! Marita helped paint, Evelyn painted her sisters new room too. Grandma Claire helped organize. I was at Kohl's and saw these sticker decals and later my Mom spotted that they were on sale. We bought paint to match for an accent wall and got busy turning the "office" in to a nursery. We are on our way to being ready to welcome baby sister into our family. Only 8 weeks to go!

Happy 4th of July!
Life's a Beach! Beautiful sights from Bella Beach.

Once again we joined the extended Isom clan to celebrate the 4th of July together with cousins, and grandparents and uncles, oh my! (Aunites were there, and great-grandparents too!)
We returned to Bella Beach, just south of Lincoln City on the Oregon coast. We enjoyed almost all categories of weather. Ranging from cold and wet to sunny and beautiful. The kids played themselves into exhaustion every day, and of course we were not without plenty of food, including home made cookies.
Evelyn loved the fireworks. We walked her to the top of a long flight of stairs leading to the sand and we watched neighbors from other beach houses set off hundreds of dollars worth of fireworks. Every time there was a big one Evelyn would get very excited and exclaim, "ooh, that was the thourth of July!" The numeral "4th" is a tough one to say, so mostly it came out, 'Thourth'. We brought our own "fireworks" this year in the form of Pop-Its and Spinning Tops. We like to live dangerously.
We celebrated our Freedom, and celebrated our family. We enjoyed the new and old and imagined those to come. We played together, laughed together, and sang together. We realize every year what a blessing and a gift our family is to us.
