It's a beautiful day

We had a fun surprise day at the beach today. Gramma Claire has been full of fun ideas lately and called late last night and we decided we may as well just go. I did not have work today, we returned to work on Tuesday after nearly 6 weeks off and today was already a non-contract day off.... go figure. We enjoyed it though, it was a great day. We got to Cannon Beach just in time for a picnic lunch on the beach but not before Evelyn managed to cover herself in sand within 30 seconds of arriving.

While we were eating lunch the birds from Hitchcock's movie Birds decided to move in on us. It was seriously unnerving and thought that each time we swung at them yelling "shoo" that we might be throwing crumbs and so were unphased by our efforts. We had to step it up an notch and used the large lid of our tupperwear container to scare them off while running towards them ( just us running alone was probably scary enough without the tupperwear lid...) which sent Evelyn into histarics. She was laughing SO hard she went silent at times. When we grew tired of jumping up and running after the birds we went back to our first method of swinging at them and yelling shoo, which was unsuccessful just like before. Then we literally started throwing our shoes at them, which worked! This totally made sense to Evelyn, (Oh! SHOE -now I get it!) and she joined in on the fun throwing my shoe as far as she could towards the birds, which wasn't very far. The birds finally got the hint after being hit in the head a few times and we finished our lunch and got down to the business of playing on the beach. I have missed Cannon Beach, we have been going to other beaches the last couple of years. It really is my happy place, I love all the flowers in town and all the little shops. Evelyn wowed Gramma and I by eating a large portion of cheese pizza for dinner. We had a great time.

The first picture is a VIDEO clip of our picnic lunch and then here's a picture of Evelyn holding my shoe saying "shoe birds, shoe!"

That's hilarious! I looks like a great time. Those birds would have been freaky, though...

I love this blog! I wish I had some reflections way back when Brigetta was a baby on the beach!
