anyone know a good Cobbler?

Well,...... this didn't turn out like I thought.
We have a disturbingly damp house. I had stored my favorite sandals under our bed and the shoes being partially made of cork were quite vulnerable to the dampness. So when I pulled them out and found a film of green mildew on foot bed of the sandals I decided to try and save the shoes. I wiped them down with a bleach solution and then to ensure that I killed off the mildew I placed them in our oven on low to dry them out really good.
Turns out cooking your shoes doesn't produce good results. Birkenstocks don't take to 150-200 degrees. They completely disintegrated! Now all I have are the straps, soles, and base of my favorite sandals, but they are not together as they should be. Anyone know of a good cobbler?

That's funny. I assumed this post was looking for a recipe! (Which I would gladly have swiped, too!) Good luck with your shoes!

Oh NO! I'm so sorry, I would be heartbroken if that happened to my Birks (they're my favorites, too!). You have my condolences.

On a side note, you I too thought you were looking for a recipe. Ha! Not so much.

When I was in college I had a wonderful pair of Birks that looked just like that. My roommate and a few friends had an intervention for me and took them. I seriously was sad... but knew it had to be done... may your "savior sandals", "Jeruselem cruisers", "butt ugly yet comfy shoes"- rest in peace up in hippy heaven along with numerous bras and sticks of deoderant. :-) ..Amen

Hey, I just thought that maybe you don't have to mourn them just yet. Maybe if you left them out tonight with a tiny coat and little pants someone will mend them? It's worth a shot?! :-)

You cooked your sandals...I don't think this will ever be any less funny than it was when you first brought those mangled things in to the bedroom to show me. :)
